Self-care is so important. By that, I mean taking care of your internal and external body is equally important. About 5 years ago or so, I really got into drinking detox water and teas. I began to get serious about being healthier.

Since this continues to be the case, I was so pleased when Influenster and Twinings sent me the complimentary product. What was it? The twinings cold infuse! I have never had anything like this nor had I ever heard or seen the product. As a result, I was even more intrigued to try it! There are a variety of flavors. The flavor I received was lemon and ginger!

Before I go any further, I do want to say that I have had some sort of infusing before. The infuse that I usually drink is with real fruit, mainly strawberries or lemon with some peppermint along with a few ice cubes.

This infuse wasn’t like that. With this infuse, you put the teabag in at least 8 oz of cold or room temperature water. Leave it to sit for about 5 minutes and then you can enjoy it!

You can drink it any time of the day. However, I decided to drink it in the morning. I’m sure the benefits will be useful no matter when you drink it 🙂

Pretty simple to make! Hope you will try this cold infuse. Let me know in the comments below if you will be trying this flavor or another one.

As a thirty-something-year-old woman, more specifically a thirty-something-year-old black woman, I tend to have a hard time fully relaxing before bed. Until a couple of years or so, I thought self-care was just saying a prayer and going to sleep or using your PTO. There are other ways, too!

Sometimes with trying to juggle different hats (Ex: mother, wife, student)we forget to take care of…ourselves. In fact, the best time that I truly engaged in self-care was during my pregnancy and postpartum. It was a challenge to consistently take the same measures because as previously stated I was juggling different hats and putting myself last. I am still guilty of doing this!

It is so important that we take a few minutes to do some form of self-care. Not just in the morning but also at night.

Here are five ways to relax before bed

1. Take a warm, soothing bath ( I usually try to do this once or twice a week)

It can be really tough to do this one. However, I find that if I do this at least twice a week, I sleep really well. Throw in some bath salts or bath bombs and just soak while listening to some soothing jazz or lofi or whatever helps you unwind.

2. Turn off the electronics

I know it is not easy to turn off electronics because we want to stay up to date with what is going. However, it is important to put your phone on DND ( “Do Not Disturb” ) and eventually turn the phone off. Honestly, it is easier for me to do the DND but I am working on just turning the phone off. It can be difficult to free your mind when notifications go off constantly.

3. Prayer or Meditation

I have been doing this one since I was a little girl. Well, I mean the prayer. Meditation is something I did on and off in college but consistently when I was actively working out. It was hard for me to do since I became really busy. However, once I became pregnant, I was determined to be stress-free; the meditation did wonders for me. Now, I am slowly but surely trying to get back into meditation, day and night!

4. Light yoga

This is something I have done so many times! However, I did not know it was called light yoga. Besides the sun salutation ( see below ), there are other amazing yoga poses you can do which include, hand to foot pose ( Pada hastasana ) and Extended triangle pose ( Utthita Trikonasana ) A good stretch does the body good!

5. Sip a warm beverage

There is nothing like having a warm beverage. This can be a cup of chamomile tea, Horlicks, Milo, or your preferred warm beverage. A nightcap does wonders!

If you were having a hard time relaxing before bed, try one, two, or all of these methods! You will sleep better 🙂

Vitamin C is so essential to our bodies. We intake this vitamin daily when we eat fruits and vegetables such as oranges, strawberries, guava, and even…parsley! I was not aware parsley contained Vitamin C so I am actually shocked. Sometimes, that is not enough and we need an extra boost to fight off infections and illnesses. This is when I would drink Emergen-C. Usually, I drink Emergen-C during the fall and wintertime. Why? I think because I am more likely to fall sick around that time. As a result, I stock up around those times. The flavors I usually pick up are orange and cherry.

Thankfully, Emergen-C and Influenster sent me a complimentary product for my honest opinion. Which flavor did I receive? The raspberry flavor!

Honestly, I did not know that flavor existed. Of course, I was happy to try it especially since I like raspberry!

After drinking this flavor, here are my thoughts:

Pros

Contains antioxidants, Vitamins, and Electrolytes

1 packet is enough

Caffeine-free

Nice smell

Can be found at Target, Amazon, Sam’s Club & Walmart

Cons

Needs time to dissolve before drinking

I can say I do prefer this flavor over the orange and cherry! Of course, I am still going to make sure I get my vitamins and antioxidants from fruits and vegetables. However, it is good to keep a box of Emergen-C around for an extra boost to your immune system!

Which flavor is your favorite? I would love to read your thoughts in the comments.

It has been a few years since I went to a wellness place. Actually, the last time I went was for a pop-up shop with iwi fresh x Besida which was almost two months ago. Great vibes! Before then, I had not set foot in a wellness place in years. Jeju is typically the place I go to because it is very close to my residence and I have a good time every time. However, I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had not gone since the pandemic.

I did go with two of my best friends and they informed me of the warm bath.

Warm bath

Again, this was not my first time going to Jeju but I had not gone to the warm bath. The day before I was going to Jeju I did read a review that stated you can get nude. However, I had not been to that part of the building before so I did not know exactly where it was located.

Well, my girlfriends showed me. Initially, I was concerned but I am so glad we took the warm bath. Before the warm, hot, or cold bath, you do have to use one of their showers. Not only that but you can wash and condition your hair with their aloe products!

As soon as I was immersed in the big bath, I let out a huge sigh. It was instantly relaxing! I did not care that I was nude especially since the other ladies were as well. Everyone was so comfortable and relaxing.

Right after that, we went to the sauna. There is the dry sauna and the steam sauna. I will admit that the thought of going in the steam sauna freaked me out. Of course, my girlfriends assured me it wasn’t too bad. So, what did I do? I went with them and…I could only be in there for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. For the short amount of time that I was in there, the sage helped me to remain calm. I enjoyed this and will try to stay in longer next time!

Once we got out of the sauna, we did take another shower.

The next stop was the salt sauna.

Salt Sauna

I was already aware of these since I had already been to Jeju a couple of times before. There are 9 saunas.

Here are some of the saunas:

I liked them all but my favorite is the Jewel Sauna. I was able to do some self-reflection in that one.

Let’s eat!

Finally, we went to their restaurant because…why not? The food is delicious!  There is anything from soup to egg rolls. I was worried because it seems a bit too crowded for me. But once 3 or 4 tables became vacant, I felt comfortable eating in the dining area.

Final thoughts

All in all, I will go back. It felt great to have a self-care day! Sometimes as a mother and wife, I forget that I need to make more time for myself. Going to Jeju reminded me that I need to do this more often than not. I do like to self-care at home but occasionally it’s nice to be pampered outside of the home too. If you live near Gwinnett County or are ever in that area, check out Jeju!

Hope you enjoyed this post!
